Applying for W7 (ITIN)

Some customers do not yet have an ITIN or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, and using the UltimateTax software, you can begin the process of applying for one! Both the Desktop and Online versions of the software support this function.

To begin in the Desktop version, go to File -> Apply for ITIN while logged in as a user that can create returns.

The next window should show an automatically generated "SSN", all you need to do to begin is click the OK button.

In the Online version, simply click the New Return window and make sure you mark the Apply for ITIN bubble in the New Return window.

Note: Returns started in this way cannot be e-filed, even if the W7 form is removed. The return must be deleted and recreated as a normal return for e-filing capability.
