"Access violation" when adding a variable to tax form default client letter

To work around the problem, go into an actual return to edit the Client Letter. Press F11 or click the icon to pull up the variable list.

Once you do this, the variable list will work in Tax Form Defaults until you close and re-open the program. The same workaround can be used after that if necessary.
