Note: These instructions assume you have an external hard drive or USB drive with enough space to save all UltimateTax data to it.
- On the old computer, right-click on the Windows icon at the bottom left of your screen; then, select Open Windows Explorer.
- To the left of the window, click Local Disk (C:).
- To select the folders that you want to backup:
- Single left-click on the oldest UTSxx folder (where xx indicates the year of the program, e.g., UTS18).
- Once the UTSxx folder is selected, press the Shift key and select the newest UTSxx folder. This will highlight all the folders between the oldest and newest installs.
- Right-click on one UTSxx folder and select Copy.
- Open your external or USB drive; right-click in a blank area and select Paste.
- Take the external or USB drive to the new computer. Right-click on the Windows icon at the bottom left of your screen and select File Explorer.
- Single left-click on the oldest UTSxx folder (where xx indicates the year of the program, e.g., UTS18). Once the UTSxx folder is selected, press the Shift key and select the newest UTSxx folder. This will highlight all the folders between the oldest and newest installs.
- Right-click on one UTSxx folder and select Copy.
- On the left of the window, click Windows (C:).
- Right-click where there is no data and select Paste.
- Starting with the oldest year, double-click to open the UTSxx folder.
- Double-click to open the TWTech folder
- Double-click the Setup.exe file to reinstall UltimateTax.
- Repeat steps 11-13 for each additional year of UltimateTax on your system.
