If when preparing a CA 1120S you are having trouble getting line 22 of the CA100S to calculate the minimum franchise tax of $800, ensure that on the CA100S pg 1 the check box next to the red lettering that states: check if corporation is subject to treatment under the rules for income tax instead of the rules for franchise tax is not checked.
Line 22 should then show the appropriate amount.
