The envelope's status will be displayed inside an open return and in the return list.
| Status | Description |
| Sent | This status is displayed when the email notification is sent to at least one recipient with a link to the envelope. The envelope remains in this state until all recipients have viewed the envelope. |
| Delivered | This status is displayed when all recipients have opened the envelope through the AssureSign signing website. |
| Signed | This status is displayed when all required recipients have signed the envelope. This temporary state is used during processing, after which the envelope is automatically moved to Completed status. |
| Completed | This status is displayed when all the recipients have completed the envelope. The signed tax return will be stored in the Vault. |
| Failed | This status is displayed when at least one recipient fails the authentication check. |
| Declined | This status is displayed when a recipient declines to sign the documents in the envelope. |
| Delivery Failed | This status is displayed when Asuresign notices that an email delivery has failed. |
