SBTPB Fee Limitations

SBTPG considers preparer fees over $1,500 as excessive. SBTPG's Financial Services Agreement still says that fees should not exceed $1,500. SBTPG also monitors sites that charge fees over $400, and it will investigate offices that consistently charge high fees. SBTPG understands that there are some legitimate reasons for charging over $1,500, but preparers need to be willing to defend their practice of charging high fees.

In addition to all this, SBTPG imposes a $9,999.99 cap on fees to automatically prevent fees any higher than $1,500.00 from being charged. If, for some reason, you need to charge fees greater than $9,999.99, you need to get a check from the taxpayer for the balance.
There is no opt-in to a higher fee as some are suggesting.

The Add-on fee to the service bureau fee can not exceed $99. ($119 including the SB fee)
