In prior years, the forms for amending a CA return was the 540X. With the 2017 tax year, the form’s name has been changed slightly. Now, preparers will need to search for and use the CA Sch. X. The new form reconciles the differences between the original and amended return to determine any additional amount owed or refund.
To add the Sch X to a CA return, just right click the checkbox at the top of the CA 540 stating it is an amended return.
