To clear Protected Mode
Open Internet Explorer, and then select Internet Options from the Tools menu, or click the Windows Start button, point to Control Panel, select Settings, and double-click Internet Options.
On the Security tab, remove the check mark next to Enable Protected Mode (requires restarting Internet Explorer).
Click Apply, and then click OK.
Restart Internet Explorer.
This does not apply to Microsoft Edge.
