The presence of Sch. A, B, Form 6251 or Form 8959 on a return will prevent a 1040A as well as a 104EZ from being produced. You can improve the likelihood of a short-form return by setting options to make sure these forms are not produced in a return unless they are necessary.
To do this, go to the Form & Schedule Options tab (Setup > Options) and examine the Select To Turn ON section on the left side of the screen. Check the following boxes:
- Print Schedule A only when required
- Print Schedule B only when required
- Print Form 6251 only when required
